This project utilizes chiral perturbation theory (ChPT) with the addition of a light scalar meson (the dilaton) that is related to scale invariance. With the addition of the dilaton, we are hoping to use ChPT to find the next-to-leading order corrections to the pion mass and the pion decay constant. The research methods that are implemented are the studying and application of chiral perturbation theory, dimensional renormalization, and next-to-leading order expansion of physical quantities.
