This study looks at the relationship between climate and variability in tree ring cell growth in Juniperus Occidentalis in the Sierra Nevada range of California. Empirical studies have shown the ability to infer past climate variability from tree ring cell measurements, however most of these studies have been in Europe. The results from this research will be used to study the pre-instrumental climate of California.
