According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, more cyclists in California died between 2016 and 2018 due to motor vehicle collisions than in any other three-year period over the past 25 years. Nationwide, cyclist fatalities from motor vehicle accidents have increased by 36% since 2010. With the resurgence in the popularity of cycling and the sustained growth of distracted driving cases, the number of cyclist fatalities will continue to rise. Project Foresight is a bicycle radar embedded system based on an ARM Cortex-M4F microcontroller and Texas Instruments millimeter-wave radar sensor. The system increases cyclist and motorist road awareness to reduce the number of cyclist fatalities.
