The goal of our project is to prepare nitrogen doped visible light activated anatase titanium dioxide thin films for photocatalysis and environmental remediation. We will do this by preparing a novel complex with tetrabutylammonium azide and titanium tetrafluoride, isolating it, then synthesizing nitrogen-doped titanium dioxide. Our rationale is that nitrogen doping of anatase titanium dioxide is one of the best ways to convert anatase into a visible light absorbing solid.
