The project is to design and build a “smart” Renaissance mechatronic machine merging the original design with 21st century mechatronics technology. We have chosen to redesign and automate the DaVinci printing press. The majority of the press has been made of wood using laser cutting and CNC milling. The core functions of the press have been automated using DC motors and various sensors mechanizing the the press action, paper feeding, and ink tray.
