We will replicate and extend a paradigm that reveals that involuntary cognitions, in response to stimuli, can habituate. In our variant, we will examine the duration of stimulus-specific habituation and whether associations learned in the laboratory can yield similar effects. The implications for psychopathology and clinical interventions will be discussed.
