The Automated Rotating Shelf is a senior engineering project created by Women in CEM. This project was designed to help the disabled and elderly utilize the upper cabinet space. A standard kitchen cabinet is not equipped for the disabled and the elderly to reach the top shelf. To help with this problem, we created a cabinet in which we can install automated shelves. We used the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines to help us determine the average reach height for a person in a wheelchair so we can determine the size of our design to fit the guidelines.
