Reclaim Creative is a collaboration between Sam Zimmerickers and Will Jameson that aims to restore artistic abilities on people with essential tremor. Essential tremor is a nervous system condition that causes an uncontrollable tremor in the hands when attempting to use them. For artists or others who like drawing and illustration, this affliction can be damaging to livelihood and emotional well being. Reclaim Creative proposes a solution that will help people regain their ability to express themselves artistically.

The core of our solution involves using object detection and triangulation to determine the position of a stylus held by the artist. This position information will be sent to our MCU, which will apply a digital low-pass filter to eliminate noise caused by essential tremor and return an output that is true to the artists intention. The output is then sent to a cartesian plotter that is operated by two stepper motors with a writing implement that corresponds to the position of the stylus. The result is reclamation of creative ability through technological assistance.

Reclaim creative believes that creativity is a fundamental human attribute, and creating accessibility for those with differing physical abilities is of essence to improving the quality of life for all.
