In this project, a scaled structure system with a green roof to run logarithmic decrement studies. It involves examining the damping generated by the presence of green roofs. The proposed project’s goal is to quantify the impact of green roofs on a structure’s damping. To achieve this, a scaled structure will be built with and without a green roof system to experimentally test and apply logarithmic decrement theory. The concept is that not only the presence of a green roof but its moisture content can increase the damping of the structure. This variation in damping will be quantified through systematic increases in the moisture level of the soil substrate.
