This project is a collaboration between POH and a group of five undergraduate students from San Francisco State University (SFSU), and it aims to increase POH's food production's operational performance. Specifically, the problem addresses personnel efficiency with the goal to increase the cost effectiveness of food production and workforce planning. The SFSU team examined current personnel allocations and procedures in order to identify key factors influencing personnel success, and developed a data-driven model to incorporate meaningful recommendations for ideal workplace planning. This project is part of the PIC Math program of the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) and the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM). Support is provided by the National Science Foundation (NSF grant DMS-1722275).
