Using genomic sequencing in BIOL 446-01 with Professor José R. de la Torre, the goal is to examine peptidoglycan synthesis of the halobacterium Natronobacterium texcoconense. The main question to consider is "How can halobacteria complete peptidoglycan synthesis under high salinity environments." The essential membrane enzyme MraY is one of the major factors that will be observed.
