Biology faculty spent three years getting smarter about the way they teach

Starting in 2013, faculty in the biology department embarked on a 3-year effort to improve their teaching skills, a description of which was published in a paper published in the journal CBE — Life Science Education in January. By the end, almost 90% of the faculty participated, and both surveys and analysis of classroom noise showed substantial changes in the way faculty structured their lessons.
